Dogs are indeed man’s best friend. Research shows that owning a companion animal like a dog brings real health benefits. A study published in The Washington Post reveals that pet owners are about 12% happier than those without pets, and dog owners are happier than cat owners.

Sadly, though, millions of dogs end up in animal shelters each year. More than half of them get euthanized, according to PetFinder.com. The ASPCA wants to change this. Since 1981, the organization has designated October as Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. It’s an opportunity to impact the lives of dogs everywhere and educate communities about the many benefits of adopting instead of shopping.

We’ve rustled up some ideas for Adopt A Shelter Dog Month in this issue of Promotional Consultant Today.
