When you cultivate good habits at work, you can benefit in all kinds of ways. Not only can good habits help you become more productive, they can also help you achieve a greater sense of satisfaction. It feels a lot better to meet your quotas and achieve your goals than feel out of control and overwhelmed with the tasks on your to-do list.

In this issue of PromoPro Daily, we highlight ideas from Vartika Kashyap, the CMO at Proofhub, on some work habits that can propel you to success in the New Year.

  1. Be punctual. Being late isn’t a good look. It’s always best to arrive on time every day. This shows your accountability to your team. Kashyap says punctuality also helps you manage your work-life balance with ease.
  2. Guard against distractions. You can do this by setting boundaries. Kashyap recommends saying no to unwanted gossip, that extra coffee break and scrolling social media during the workday. Focus your concentration on the most important and productive tasks.
  3. Make daily goals. This helps you see the progress you’re making. Always focus on one task at a time, Kashyap says, and commit to finishing them on time.
  4. Work on your self-awareness. What are you good at? Where can you improve? She says that reflection and meditation are ways to understand yourself. Understand your weaknesses and try to overcome them. You should also ask for constructive feedback and then apply that feedback.
  5. Schedule your tasks on your calendar. This is better than writing a to-do list, according to Kashyap, because time blocked off on your calendar keeps you on track. Make sure you plan your day or office hours to meet your deadlines.
  6. Take care of yourself. You can’t be highly productive at work if you’re not feeling well physically or mentally, Kashyap says. She recommends starting your day with a healthy routine like a morning walk or meditation. You should also take small breaks throughout the day.
  7. Use your energy effectively. Are you more productive in the morning or evening? Identify your productive zones and use them to your advantage. The main focus is to be proactive and create a work routine, Kashyap says.
  8. Reflect on your day. Take a few minutes at the end of your workday to think through what you accomplished and the challenges you overcame. Review the good things that happened and why you feel good about them. According to Kashyap, self-evaluation helps you work on your weak points and can prepare you to face challenges in the future.

What work habits do you want to build? Whether you want to improve your punctuality, set clearer boundaries or dedicate some time each day for reflection, the habits mentioned above can help guide you to greater success.
