The wait is over.

At a private event earlier this week, golf great Tiger Woods shared a preview of Sun Day Red, his new collaboration with TaylorMade. The lifestyle brand will launch at sundayred.com on May 1 with six apparel pieces, including a cashmere hoodie, a long-sleeved T-shirt with “Sun Day Red” across the chest and what Esquire writer Ben Boskovich described as “a camo-esque polo made up of jagged peaks in its pattern.”

The brand is three words rather than two to evoke the “power in threes,” as well as sunny weather, a day on the greens and, of course, Woods’ trademark “power color” of red.

The Sun Day Red logo points to Woods’ own story, with a tiger drawn in 15 stripes – one for each major he’s won – woven subtly throughout the collection with tags and tone-on-tone branding. It’s most prominent in gray across the chest of a black hoodie. The line will also include footwear, and Woods and TaylorMade CEO David Abeles sported its first shoe, a red-and-black sneaker, at the event.

Woods wore the new cashmere hoodie, branded with the tiger logo and “SDR” at the event, and says the line reflects his own personal style preferences. “I just wanted it to be reflective of who I am,” he said, as reported by Boskovich. “This isn’t something that’s fake, or not organic by nature. This is just who I am, and the team did a great job of detailing all of that.”

A press release on sundayred.com promises “a brand built on the belief that apparel can be both a marker of style and a tool for performance,” with novel patterns, fabrication and detailing, as well as “luxury logo tees, fleece and hats for those who’ll want to make Sun Day Red part of their everyday style routine.”

Woods is already back on the greens and outfitted head to toe in Sun Day Red gear at this week’s Genesis Invitational, where he is both host and competitor.

Red has long been Tiger Woods’ signature color on Sundays, thanks to his mother, and his partnership with Nike lasted nearly three decades. He announced its end on social media January 8, and leaks of filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by TaylorMade, which has supplied Woods’ clubs since 2016, hit the internet shortly thereafter.

A search of SAGE yields several suppliers who sell TaylorMade golf balls and bags – including Gold Bond, the No. 22 supplier, and Ball Pro, the No. 37 supplier. TaylorMade also sells apparel under its own brand, but it’s unclear whether that apparel is available in promo.
