The Book Company (PPAI 218850, S6) has launched “We Plant Trees,” the Delray Beach, Florida, supplier’s first corporate giving program that will donate a portion of proceeds each year to help plant trees across America through reforestation programs lead by American Forests.

The company reports that President Doug Greenhut, recognized the obvious impact the company’s product line has on trees and the environment. He says that the idea to start a corporate giving program originated from Missy Kilpatrick, the company’s vice president of business development, who lives in California and was seeing, firsthand, the impact widespread wildfires were having on the environment. After much investigation, Greenhut found American Forests and was inspired by their support of more than 135 forest restoration projects in the state, which has led to the planting of over 7.5 million trees in California alone.

“In my eyes, it's almost impossible to weigh the balance between the majesty of trees and their importance to the ecosystem against the immeasurable educational and inspirational value we gain from reading books and writing in journals,” says Greenhut. “I’m extremely gratified that the We Plant Trees program allows us to pay homage to the products we sell and make an ongoing investment to improve our planet.”

American Forests has been restoring forests for more than 140 years. Since 1990 alone, they have planted nearly 60 million trees in forest restoration projects in all 50 states. As the oldest national conservation organization, they have also worked in dozens of cities across America, expanding tree canopy and improving the quality of life for residents.

In addition to allocating a portion of proceeds each year, The Book Company is also encouraging their industry partners to donate to American Forests. More details about the We Plant Trees program can be found here.
