As first reported Wednesday in a PPB Newslink Breaking News alert, Montreal, Quebec-based supplier Spector & Co. (PPAI 168328), in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, has issued a voluntary recall of power bank chargers that have shown they can overheat while charging and pose a fire hazard. No property damage, fire damage or injuries have been reported.

Between May 2016 and January 2019, approximately 4,500 T119 Elf 2200 mAh power bank chargers were sold in the U.S. and 2,600 were sold in Canada. The power banks were distributed as promotional products at various meetings, trade shows and industry conventions.

The portable, battery-powered chargers are used for charging mobile phones or other electronic devices, and measure about four inches long by three-quarters inch high and wide. They have a color match end with a wire key loop and the sides are either gunmetal blue, black, red or gray.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled power bank chargers and contact Spector & Co. for a free replacement power bank charger and instructions for proper disposal. Spector & Co. can be reached toll-free at 866-215-7991 from 9 am - 5 pm ET, Monday through Friday, via email at recall@spectorandco.com or online at www.spectorandco.com/recall for more information.
