PromoKitchen, an all-volunteer, 501(c3) nonprofit organization in the promotional products industry, has announced its first educational speaker event of the year featuring Dan Nevins, a decorated U.S. Army veteran who lost both of his legs fighting in the war after 9/11.

Nevins was introduced to the promotional products industry when he became the brand ambassador for retail-brand Basecamp, carried exclusively by supplier Sweda Co. He has since been a keynote speaker at several industry events, including PPAI’s Leadership Development Workshop (LDW) in 2019.

“If you’ve heard Dan’s story before, you haven’t heard this part of his story,” says Amanda Delaney, PromoKitchen sous-chef and volunteer. “Dan has an incredibly powerful way of speaking on overcoming some extremely heavy life events, and he shares our passion for educating others on the importance of talking about mental health. This is a great collaboration opportunity all around.”

Nevins will also be raising awareness to the rapidly steady increase in veteran suicide, shedding a light on what you can do if you or someone you love is also a veteran and/or active-duty military, sharing similar battles. PromoKitchen says they “hope to create a safe space for people in our industry to talk about the things that aren’t-so-talked-about, especially after the effects the pandemic continues to have on so many of us.”

This is a free-to-attend event, but donations are encouraged and are currently being accepted to support Wounded Warrior Project, which is an organization close to the speaker’s heart and for which he’s an advocate. One-hundred percent of all donations will be given to WWP on Nevins’s behalf to contribute to the organization’s ongoing efforts to support wounded veterans and their families.

The virtual event will be held on May 13, 2021. Click here to register to attend as well as donate, or visit promokitchen.org/events.
