PromoCares, a volunteer-driven group of industry members dedicated to corporate social and environmental responsibility, has announced the completion of its Water4Good campaign, which raised $150,836 to build AquaTowers for disadvantaged schools and communities in Mexico.

  • An AquaTower is a gravity-based, water filtration system that doesn’t require external power to operate.

The initiative – which launched on World Water Day, March 22 – benefits the Planet Water Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on bringing clean water access and hygiene education programs to the world’s most impoverished communities.

PromoCares launched the campaign to bring attention, education and action to the global water crisis in countries from which the promo industry draws resources. The fundraising goal of $20,000 was quickly exceeded thanks to the generosity of promo professionals.

  • All donors will soon be receiving their Water4Good T-shirts in the coming days, thanks to the support of PromoHunt, a business services provider.

‘Turning The Tides’

On November 15, PromoCares volunteers deployed to Mexico to begin building the first set of AquaTowers. In addition to funding construction, the donations go toward maintenance, sustainability and education, so that PromoCares can teach the communities how to take care of themselves.

Also, with the support of S&S Activewear and its brand Tultex, PromoCares is launching an initiative next year to build a cluster of AquaTowers near Tultex’s Mexico facilities.

“I couldn’t be prouder of Water4Good – the latest PromoCares initiative – we’re turning the tides in Mexico this year, replacing water scarcity with abundancy,” Megan Erber, outside sales manager at S&S Activewear, told PPAI Media in June. “I hope through the Water4Good campaign we’ve highlighted to the promotional products industry the importance of water quality globally.”
