Supplier Moderne Glass (PPAI 112536, S10) has announced a recall of coffee cups in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The ceramic cups can crack or break when hot water is poured into them, posing a burn hazard.

The recall was initiated by the Moderne Glass under CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process. Moderne Glass is working with the CPSC to quickly announce the recall and remedy to protect consumers. Product recalls are challenging for the companies conducting them but with the groundwork in place and communication strategy, they can be handled with minimum disruption.

The Issue: Moderne Glass Company has received six reports of cups cracking after pouring hot water into them. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coffee cups and contact the supplier to receive a full refund. Moderne Glass Company is contacting all known purchasers directly.

The Product: The recall involves the Moderne Glass Company 15-ounce coffee cups.

• The ceramic cups are black on the outside and white on the inside, measure about four inches high and three inches wide, and have the model number “71500-White” printed on the bottom of the cups.
• Approximately 2,500 of the cups were sold as promotional products with company names printed on them between February 2021 and February 2022.
