PPAI’s Product Safety Awareness (PSA) program offers distributors a differentiation opportunity as their clients’ brand steward. The program is designed to foster an industry-wide commitment and culture where companies are not only aware of product safety but engaged in the discussion. Knowledge of their obligations and responsibilities under the law will provide distributors the opportunity to offer additional value through brand protection by mitigating risks.

Under federal and state regulations, distributors can be held liable for placing non-compliant products on the market. PPAI has the tools to help distributors get up to speed on the laws and regulations that impact the promotional products industry and effect their business and their clients’ businesses. For a company to attain Product Safety Aware status, it must designate a roster employee to serve as a Product Safety Ambassador. The employee must complete four hours of product safety education in these required programs plus one elective course:

  • Product Safety Basics
  • Prop 65 and State Regulations
  • Undue Influence Training

Add an Elective here.

There is currently no cost for companies to attain Product Safety Aware status. Log on to www.ppai.org/corporate-responsibility and then locate the product safety aware program. For questions, contact PPAI Product Responsibility Manager Tim Brown, MAS, at timb@ppai.org or 513-755-1152.
