Snoop Gives Up Smoke With Solo Stove

Celebrity brand collabs abound, but perhaps one of the most clever this year dropped just a few days before Thanksgiving, courtesy of Snoop Dogg and Solo Stove (PPAI 762096, S1). In an Instagram post, the rapper and entrepreneur, whose fondness for cannabis is well-known, said, “After much consideration and conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke.”

This, of course, lit up the internet with speculation – could Tha Doggfather really be putting away his smokes for good?

Of course not. It was all a very effective media stunt to announce his new partnership with Texas-based home and outdoor lifestyle brand Solo Stove, creator of the smokeless fire pit. In addition to being the company’s official “smokesman,” Snoop will help design a line of Snoop Dogg x Solo Stove products, including a limited edition bundle that includes a branded fire pit and stand designed by Snoop, a Snoop bucket hat and a sticker pack.

Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney & Wrexham AFC

Affable Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds teamed up with his buddy Rob McElhenney and bought Wrexham Football Club in Wales, boosting interest in the third oldest (and let’s say not the winningest) team in the world.

The Red Dragons’ fortunes on the pitch have improved a bit since the two actors took ownership in 2020, but as British GQ put it, the infusion of Hollywood star power (including a docuseries) has made Wrexham merch “go boom,” with a 600% boost in sales of jerseys, hats and more. GQ predicts the Wrexham AFC gear will become iconic, because “good merch can make a menswear brand of an ailing football team.”

The Hoodie That’s a Hand Towel

Speaking of Canadians, SkipTheDishes, an online food delivery service headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, introduced the GameTime Tarp, a pullover garment the company describes as the “latest evolution of wearable tech designed for your messiest eats.” The oversized unisex hoodie in the brand’s bright orange features a towel-lined front pocket for easy hand wiping.

Available via exclusive contest just in time for the start of hockey season – and modeled by Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers and Olympic hockey champion Marie-Philip Poulin – the GameTime Tarp is a companion to the company’s 2021 “Playoff Pants” giveaway. Both garments were designed by Canadian fashion designer Izzy Camilleri.

‘Crazy Plane Lady’ Makes Christmas Sweater For Charity

Viral videos of wacky behavior are everywhere, but not all of the “stars” use their notoriety for good. After becoming known as “the crazy plane lady” for a tirade that got her ejected from a flight, Tiffany Gomas has issued apologies, explanations – and now, merch for charity.

Perhaps drawing on her past experience working for a promo distributor (really), Gomas has created an ugly Christmas sweater (actually a sweatshirt) in collaboration with Barstool Sports. Her cut of the proceeds from the sweatshirt, which pokes fun at her infamous “he’s not real” outburst, this time with Santa on the receiving end, will benefit The Cybersmile Foundation, an anti-cyberbullying and digital wellbeing nonprofit promoting kindness, equality and inclusion.
